A Dolly Kei Coord for Feeling Nostalgic

It's been ages since I've posted a personal outfit coordinate (aside from worky outfits on tumblr and instagram), and I was feeling inspired by the cooler weather and the general nostalgia I've been having for older Dolly kei styles (putting together sets upon sets for tumblr will do that I suppose, hehe!) Unfortunately, I couldn't get a good full-length shot. But! I did get a few good detail shots in it's place.

I was really inspired by Miwako's make-up! I'm not always the biggest fan of her coords, but I always love how she does her blush. I also have always loved red lipstick with Dolly, so I decided to give it a try myself. I'm really happy with it!

My blouse and skirt are incredibly old H&M, fake fur stole is vintage, shoes are Jeffrey Campbell, Necklaces are Fashionably Dead and F21, Tassel is second hand, rings are from all over the place, cross earrings are Claire's, tights are H&M, and my hair piece is handmade.

And in case anyone likes my make-up, my powder is MAC Studio Fix in NC15, my lipstick is MAC Red, my blush is MAC but I'm not sure of the colour because the name is worn off, my eyeliners are Urban Decay in Zero and Yeyo, my shadow is Urban Decay's "Black Palette" in Barracuda, and my mascara is Benefit's "They're Real!".

I hope every is having a really lovely evening, and I hope you enjoyed my coord :)

Favorite Dolly Kei Coord Sets on Tumblr

No "Favorite Snaps of the Week" this week. I've been feeling nostalgic for older variations of dolly, as as a result, I've been posting sets of my favorite older coords on Tumblr. So far I've done Heri (my absolute favorite), and Saki. Of course, in the following days I'll be covering others as well.

Favorite Dolly Kei Coords Set 1: Heri
Favorite Dolly Kei Coords Set 2: Saki
Favorite Dolly Kei Coords Set 3: Kaori
Favorite Dolly Kei Coords Set 4: Miyoshi
Favorite Dolly Kei Coords Set 5: Hitomi

What are your favorite coords? Why do they stand out to you?

Hope everyone had a great Loliday this year!

Favorite Snaps of the Week

Back from my hiatus!

From the Grimoire Almadel blog. I love Miwako's choice of the white lacey skirt with her otherwise dark outfit.

From JapaneseStreets.com. This reminds me of a lot of Saki's looks from when I first discovered dolly kei (obviously not Saki here).

Miyoshi, from the Grimoire blog. I'm in love with suspenders at this point.

Kaori, from the Grimoire Almadel blog. The dark tights and shies with the airy white dress, so love. I think I'm going to be doing this a lot this spring.

Favorite Snaps of the Week

From ridsnap.com, Heri and a gent. I love the vibrant contrast, and the bit of a military style nod her had lends to the outfit.

Miyoshi, from the Grimoire Almadel blog. I think her bright blue crushed-velvet jacket says it all for this outfit. She looks positively...wizardy?

Favorite Snaps of the Week

These are actually from the last couple of weeks, as my work schedule has been keeping my from my "blog schedule" :)

Kaori, from the Grimoire Almadel blog. I love how the subtle print of her tights (Verum!) just peep out amongst all the white. I also love how she went dark for her hat and shoes,

Also Kaori, also from the Grimoire Almadel blog. I choose this coord because really, this is an outfit any of us could do from items already in our closet.

Favorite Snaps of the Week!

I didn't really see a lot of street snaps that inspired this week, but the Grimoire and Grimoire Almadel blogs did release shots of staff wearing their new "Verum" tights. These two snaps really caught my eye!

Miyoshi, from the Grimoire blog. Everything about this is perfect: girly, dark, dainty, and a bit strange.

Heri, from the Grimoire Almadel blog. Crazy in a way that only she can pull off.

Favorite Snaps of the Week

Late, I apologize!

Kaori, Grimoire Almadel blog. The skirt makes this outfit for me.

Miyoshi, Grimoire blog. The cardigan is very unexpected as a print, which is why it works so well to me.

From ridsnap.com, here we go poking into Cult Party territory again. But I think this is beautifully executed.

Favorite Snaps of the Week

I picked this great one from Miyoshi for a couple of reasons. I love the simplicity, and I love the understated elegance. And It goes to the darker and gothy side of Dolly Kei that I love so much. From the Grimoire Almadel blog.

Also from the Grimoire Almadel blog, Kaori in a super-cute blouse and skirt ensemble. The pop of red is great and the whole look is just adorable, period.

Favorite Snaps of the Week!/Update

My first week getting back from Montreal has been hectic, and as a result my blog posts have been almost non-existent. Hopefully this week I can remedy that with some hauls and fall trends!

But today is Monday, and that means Favorite Snaps of the Week! Here we go:

Kaori, Grimoire Almadel blog. Simple and cute. I love her red socks and bowler hat.

A classic Heri look, from the Grimoire blog.

Also ladies and gents: I'm always looking for more sources for the favorite snaps. Do you dress in dolly? If you'd like to be considered, you can contact me at DollyMacabre@gmail.com

If a snap is used you would naturally get full credit, and I would provide a link to your blog etc.

:)

Favorite Snaps of the Week

This is actually going to be " Favorite Snaps of the Last Three Weeks". And we have:

Heri from the Grimoire blog. Everything about this is perfect dolly kei to me. I especially live the rich colours.

Miyoshi, Grimoire Almadel blog. Just really cute.

Saki, Grimoire. I like the more mature route she took here. You could easily wear this to work or school.

Miyoshi again. I love the hat and the transparent skirt.

And...more Miyoshi! Everything about this is adorable. Understated and simple but the hat brings it to over the top!

Kaori, Grimoire blog. Just love this, great layering, again, love the hat!

Saki, stripped bloomers, enough said! From the Grimoire blog.

I think this came from shiftsnap. At any rate, it's crazy and amazing.

I know, I know, this is really more cult party. But I love it so I'm posting it anyhow. From DropTokyo?

Again, we're verging on cult party here but it's adorable and therefore being posted. From DropTokyo?

Goodness it was hard to pair this down to just these choices!

Favorite Snaps of the Week

I have a few this week!

From ridsnap.com, this is under-stated and simple, but so beautiful in my opinion. I love the blouse and her shoes.

Saki, from the Grimoire Almadel blog. I love her high-waisted pants and the overall piratey look of this coord.

Another of Saki, this time from the Grimoire blog. I love this dress!

From DropTokyo.com, Kaori in a simple maxi-length dress. I like how the colour of her scarf tied to her purse subtly picks up the tones in her dress. So pretty!

Favorite Snaps of the Week

Late! I went to bed early and forgot :(

Hitomi from the Grimoire Almadel blog. The dress is gorgeous and really doesn't need much added to it. Love!

Heri, Grimoire blog. I love the panelled dress over a lace top!

Saki, Grimoire Almadel. Pants! Enough said.

This is really more along the lines of Cult Party, but it's cute and I love the tassely bag! From TokyoFashion.com
