Inspiration Wednesday!

I haven't done an inspiration post in aaaaaages! Thank-goodness I'm feeling inspired today ;)

Girly but quirky details. I'm really enjoying just throwing weird girly things into my outfits, whether it be a doll head brooch or a baby pink cross. Above photos from ridsnap and the Grimoire blog.

I'm in love with over the top prints. Juliette et Justine, you're just killing me at the moment. Any of these paired with a printed or lace tight would be amazing!

Huge necklaces, always. All together! From Tokyo Fashion, the Grimoire blog and the Flasco blog.

Whimsical/extreme eye makeup and hair. YES.

My nails will not be plain ever again! (I don't know the source of these nail scans, but I'll post the full pages at a later date, they're amazing!).

Claire's "Nailpolish Strips" Review

I am a huge fan of the nail polish strip fad. Instant fancy nails? No drying time? YES!

I've noticed that Claire's carried them, but I've been more than happy with the Sally Hansen ones, and after the awful results from the Sephora version, I've been hesitant.

However! I gave in when they released a design of polka dots, stripes, roses, mixed and all in one pack. I liked the idea of having mixed-print nails, so I took the plunge.

So firstly, the price and packaging: they run about 9.75$ Canadian, and come in a cute zip-lock bag with a cute nail file (which of course, I forgot to take a picture of).

The product itself: unlike the SH ones, these come in a sort of "sticker sheet". They were really hard to get off and onto my nail without tearing them. I ruined a few in the process. Luckily, you get 20 strips. They were also really thin, which made it hard to get them on smoothly without any creases. They didn't end up looking bad, as you can see from the above picture.

Two days later: the strips are bubbling and peeling, the edges are chipping off. I ended up taking them off because they looked so bad. I followed all instructions to a T (including adding a top coat).

Pros:
•Cute designs
•20 strips included, enough for two applications
•Inexpensive compared to other brands
•Easy to remove (literally peel off like stickers)

Cons:
•Hard to apply
•Needs a polish topcoat
•Doesn't last/not great quality

I think these are fine if you just want cute nails for a day (maybe a special event?), otherwise I wouldn't bother. I don't think I'll be purchasing them again. They are better than the Sephora ones for certain, but the overall cons outweigh the pros in this case.

Bruno Dayan

I love interesting fashion photography, and today I discovered a photographer who is quickly becoming a new favorite. Bruno Dayan is a french freelance fashion photographer, and despite not having an agency, still manages to get prime assignments. His images speak for themselves:

Definitely an artist I'll be continuing to watch!

For those of us who want to "dolly up" all aspects of our lives, Grimoire has released a series of iPhone cases! The designs for the cases are quite reminiscent of the Verum tights, running from dark to light and whimsical. There are give designs in total, and are available in-store and on the Grimoire online shop. The cost is 3,150yen.

The two above are hands down my favorites. I love that we'll be able to add a little bit of Grimoire to our phones.

Favorite Snaps of the Week

I have quite a few this week, to make up for my lack of posting lately :)

I love the colour in this coord so much! Completely unexpected and unusual. It almost has a sort of circus feel. I also really like the ruffle collar layered under the shirt collar. Kaori, from the Grimoire Almadel blog.

Miwako, also from the Grimoire Almadel blog. I love her hair piece, and this dress with the Verum butterfly tights. The vibrant green peeking out is a great touch!

Yukari, going back to a more oldschool dolly kei kind of coord. Lovely! From the Grimoire Almadel blog.

Miyoshi, from the Grimoire blog. It's just so light and airy!

Another white coord, this time from Kaori, and from the Grimoire Almadel blog. Just so cute!
