Inexpensive Necklace Finds

Hello everyone, just a little post with a couple of cute finds from this week:

Both necklaces from H&M, both 6.95$ (Can).

What's nice about both the apple and the bow necklace (aside from the price, and aside from they are so cute and versatile), is that they're a good length. They'll make great layering pieces.

Some Little Updates

Hello everyone! I hope you're having a lovely day :)

Firstly, I've added a search function to Strange Girl to make it easier to find things within my blog. I also added a few links within the "Dolly Kei Essentials" section in the sidebar.

Also within the sidebar...a Poupee Girl widget? Why yes! I've given in and gotten my own account. I kept seeing people posting pics of their's on Tumblr. I was very jealous of everyone's cute little dollies, so I just finally had to get my own. Click the widget on the side to add me, or CLICK HERE

Lastly, I recommend everyone take a gander at the latest entry at "F*ck Yeah Lolita", concerning the latest "film controversy". A little food for thought, click here. (For the record: I completely support freedom of speech, and I believe the filmmakers have every right have their film. My issue is with the film's poster, and the fact that the girl whose photo was used, was not told that it was going to be used for this).

Trend in Dolly Kei: Suspenders

So, I've noticed in the last week, a lot of coords showing up using suspenders.

I love the idea of pairing suspenders with a Dolly Kei coord for a few reasons. It's an easy way to add contrast and layers (especially if your suspenders are patterned), it's a great way to add interest and a little bit of "dandy". And it's just simply cute. And, it's a great way to make a skirt more versatile: just look at how Kaori has used her suspenders to take a long skirt and make it into a jsk of sorts.

This is such an easy look to emulate, and I think it looks really polished. Suspenders are readily available in most clothing stores, new or used. You could even embellish your suspenders with lace or pearl beading for a little extra personality, or attach a brooch (or three, hehe!).

Favorite Snaps of the Week

From ridsnap.com, Heri and a gent. I love the vibrant contrast, and the bit of a military style nod her had lends to the outfit.

Miyoshi, from the Grimoire Almadel blog. I think her bright blue crushed-velvet jacket says it all for this outfit. She looks positively...wizardy?

Inspiration Wednesday

This week I've been taking my cues from Japanese Lolita artists. Whimsical details, completely over the top accessories, and ruffles on everything.

I've been pairing my usual "wide-eyed doll" make-up with super-accentuated blush and paler lips as well.
