Work has been very hectic for me, and unfortunately hasn't left me with the time to make a post here. However! Next week I'll be back with favourite snaps and some other posts.

Sincerest apologies for the lack of posting in the last couple of weeks! I've been very busy, but I'll be back this week with favorite snaps, inspiration posts, and all my usual things.

I'm working on a new layout and design for Strange Girl. I've had this theme and layout since I began this blog, and I think it's time for something new! I'm still not 100% sure how it's going to look, but I'm thinking of going a little darker this time around!

Some Little Updates

Hello everyone! I hope you're having a lovely day :)

Firstly, I've added a search function to Strange Girl to make it easier to find things within my blog. I also added a few links within the "Dolly Kei Essentials" section in the sidebar.

Also within the sidebar...a Poupee Girl widget? Why yes! I've given in and gotten my own account. I kept seeing people posting pics of their's on Tumblr. I was very jealous of everyone's cute little dollies, so I just finally had to get my own. Click the widget on the side to add me, or CLICK HERE

Lastly, I recommend everyone take a gander at the latest entry at "F*ck Yeah Lolita", concerning the latest "film controversy". A little food for thought, click here. (For the record: I completely support freedom of speech, and I believe the filmmakers have every right have their film. My issue is with the film's poster, and the fact that the girl whose photo was used, was not told that it was going to be used for this).

Little Update

Not feeling great, I think the Christmas over-exertion/workaholicism is finally catching up to me.

Updates/Changes

Another week of busy life schedules interfering with my blog schedule :(

I'll be back to posting "Favorite Snaps" on Mondays, "Inspirations" will be moved to Wednesdays, and hopefully I'll be able to fill in the in-betweens with trends etc.

I've also bought a few iPhone apps and have been using them, so I'll have some reviews for them as well. ( I find it hard to find apps that appeal to me ).

I'll also be adding little things like nail polish tests too.

Here's to getting back on track!

Greetings from Beautiful Montreal!

So as it turns out, I'm staying another week and will be returning on Sept. 2nd.




I've been having a lovely time here working, shopping, and eating all sorts of decadent (and completely unhealthy, hehe) desserts.




I am starting to miss home though (I miss you kitty!!), and will be glad to return to my home-sweet-home. And I miss blogging and the online world in general.

Updates, Instagram Account

Work has been busy of late, and of course, I'm still doing everything on this blog from the blogger iPhone app because of my broken computer (I honestly have no idea what to get for a new computer, I've never had to buy one myself/by myself before).

First: I'm sure at this point anyone with an iPhone or iPod touch has heard of the "Instagram" application. It's a Photoshop-type app that has an assortment of old-timey and kitchy filters you can apply to your photos, along with the ability to share them to an assortment of social-networking sites (twitter, Tumblr, Facebook etc.). There is also the Instagram photostream where you can view other user's additions. Definitely a fun little app! My Instagram username is "dollymacabre" for anyone else using the application :)






Secondly: While Dolly Kei isn't necessarily brand-oriented like Lolita and Gyaru, there are definitely some shops and brands that are recognizable as being "dolly". I've decided to do a series of Dolly Kei brand "breakdowns" to talk a little bit about their creation and what they're known for. I'm thinking about calling them "Brand Doctrine"? I haven't really decided yet. If you have any pertinent information on any of the dolly brands or shops you'd like to share, please e-mail to DollyMacabre@gmail.com

Thirdly: I've mentioned a few times that I had been working on a sort of bigger Dolly-related post, which I obviously have yet to publish. It's concerning the morals of the fashion, and I've pushed it back for the next little while. It's mostly complete though :)

Finds, Update

Firstly, still working on my "big" post concerning Dolly Kei, but it's coming! In the meantime...

I found a great source for ornate rings! Suzy Sheer isn't a place I would ordinarily shop, but I went in on a whim today and lucked out! They have a huge assortment of ornate cameos, baubles, and flowers that would be GREAT for dolly. These are the three I bought, the bauble and cameo were 2 for 5$, and the rose was 5.60$





This picture also highlights my super-fashionable (hahaha) burn I obtained ironing clothing to put on a mannequin for a display I was putting together for work.

Blogging without my computer is driving me crazy (uuuugh the tiny pictures from this blogging app). But I wanted to say a quick "thanks!" for the over 40 followers and almost 7000 page views on my humble little blog. And! Thanks to the over 300 followers on my Tumblr (I can't believe it!). Thanks so much everyone!

Finds: Necklace and earrings from H&M

If you're on the more prairie/western side of Dolly, I think these are going to be great pieces for. And even if you're most into the eastern european side of the style (like myself), you still can make them work.




So firstly, the set of four pairs of earrings for 4.95$: you get some little faux-suede bows, little horses, small ovals with amber-look stones, and some tiny filigree hearts with amber-coloured gems. Adorable, and they all have that great vintage air to them.





Next, a set of three pairs of earrings for 6.95$: kind of large gold spheres, round amber-look cabochons, and some great dangley feathers. Honestly, I just wanted the feather pair, but I can probably make use of the cabochons.






Lastly, fabulous faux-suede necklace for 9.95$: it has a large feather, tassels, amber piece, a sort of medallion thing and a smaller feather as well as a gold-tone metal feather. You can definitely wear it as is, but I'm going to be doing some alterations to mine.






Another little update: Internet issues still here, but like I said, I'll still be on the Dolly Comms and updating my Tumblr :)

Another update!

My internet has been down, and while I do have the iPhone BlogPress app, it doesn't allow me to do the big/in-depth posts I've been working on. Hopefully I'll have it back soon, and in the meantime I'll still be on the Dolly Kei LJ Comms.

More little updates...And Dolly Kei suitable iPod Touch/iPhone Cases?

So, I finally recieved my iPod Touch 4 today, which means that not only can I ditch my first gen Nano (lol), I now have something with which to take better photos for my blogs and make videos with, I'm so happy! My iPod is going to need a case, so I've been looking for some that would suit a Dolly wardrobe (all from Etsy):

Most of these sellers have a few different styles or patterns to choose from. There was actually a lot more surprisingly, these were just my favorites.

I'm also making some other purchase debates. I've been wanting some Celeste Steine tights, but it seems their customer service may be crappy, and you may not get your entire order? Ghastly, we'll see on that.

The Atelier Pierrot Nutcracker print dress I've been eyeing. I know it's sort of a Christmas-ish print, but it's gorgeous and I would wear it all year long! And I think because of it's empire waist I could easily work it in with my Dolly wardrobe. I NEED IT TO LIVE!!!

Maybe not, but I definitely want it very badly.

Little Updates

As the title says, just some little updates:

1)The make-up tutorial is put off (again), the pictures are just not working as I wish. Which brings me to...

2)My YouTube channel???? I'm probably going to have to do the make-up tutorial as a video, so I set up the channel. No videos yet, but there's some favorites if you want to see what I'm enjoying on YouTube at the moment.

3)I'll have some more tutorials later in the week. I was hoping to get some in today, but I haven't been feeling well and wasn't able to get to the fabric store or my usual craft supply store.
